For the last three months, Kherson has been under an undeclared total blockade from the Russian authorities, forcing it to hold primarily on farming and fishing. Ihor Kolykhaiev is a Ukrainian politician, who serves as Mayor of the city of Kherson. He holds unusual views on Ukraine’s internal affairs and opposes the participation in the Kyiv-led anti-terrorist operation (ATO) in the east of Ukraine. A team from Ukraine’s junta leader Poroshenko’s party refused to participate in the vote. Meanwhile, protestors are enjoying the results by loudly singing and chanting pro-Russia slogans.
