On Wednesday, 20th of July, police of Las Vegas received a call saying that there was a shooting on going at the Fashion Mall, and gunfire was also reported by the caller. When the police arrived they found no sign of a firearm or shots being fired. There was no clue of a shooting or anything related to the firing. The police eventually confirmed that there was nothing to fear about. Due to the fear of losing life havoc was created and people ran for their lives. When the police came they explained and found the case for the panic created at the mall. Lastly, police declared that there was no shooting in the mall, rather it was just a rumor creating panic.

According to the police, at around 4 m on Wednesday a person stole something from a store in the mall and he ran from the inside with the thing in his hand to the outside of the mall. As per the police, the person who stole from the shop ran in a hurry and during that time he damaged the property of the mall which created a shot-like sound. This sound was misunderstood as a gunshot or firing and people started to panic and ran to save their lives. Police said that the loud noise was misheard as gunfire and people panicked. After a while, someone from the mall called 911 and informed the police about the firing although it was just a loud noise. Police when investigating the mall found no evidence of a shooting rather than damaged mall property. However, the police interrogated and inquired about the witnesses who said that they heard loud gunfire-like sounds which might have caused due to property damage. Police said that they found no evidence and no credible piece of information that signifies that a shooting has occurred in the mall. Police said there was no shooting carried out at the mall. Although people were in fear for their lives until the police arrived. Earlier as well in many areas of the USA cases like this have occurred where they found no shooting but people misunderstood loud sounds as gunfire. The person who theft from a shop in the mall was also arrested by the police after they clarified the doubts in the civilians. Apart from that last Saturday as well, the same situation came ahead when a man threw stones at MGM Grand Hotel which was later taken into consideration, and exactly this way the sound was misunderstood as gunfire by the people nearby the hotel and in the hotel as well. Multiple incidents like this suggest that people are fearing for their lives and are calling the police in a rush to protect themselves.
